Personality| THE PRANKSTER Tio is everything against the serious. He has no problems with people that ARE serious but he takes everything in his life with a few too many grains of salt and continues on. Never without a smile he marvels at everything and when there's a chance to prank someone he'll do it. He loves to put just enough of a toe out of line and back-peddle to avoid sever consequences. This doesn't mean he doesn't get whats coming to him it just means he doesn't learn this lesson - or he refuses to learn this lesson. Whatever the case is he's addicted to trouble, finding it, opening the door to it, you name it. He'll welcome trouble for the thrill of the game. You can't be serious or take things personally when you're around Tio. He's notorious for making bad jokes, dry humor, and jokes at everyone's expense - especially his. If there's a joke out there in the world that fits a situation he'll save it until it no longer fits! Tio is a self-proclaimed genius and doesn't take true criticism well but that's just the child inside him refusing to grow up and accept that he absolutely needs to give up his childish antics.
ACT HIS AGE Why should he? It's not like acting his age or acting like a child is going to prolong or shorten his life. Either way he only has so many beats in his heart so why not thoroughly enjoy the life he has lain out before him and just go with the flow? Besides it isn't like he's some important figure head. If anything he's the dunce of the town. Everyone knows him, knows of him, will guiltily admit to enjoying his jokes but no one will claim him when the cat drags him in with his coming-due lashings. 'Acting his age' is something he adamantly refuses to do and those closest to him get fearful of what's going on in his head, or what he'll do, when he does act adult and serious. It's unwise to drag him to important and serious meetings because he's the comic relief that everyone loves but sometimes no one wants.
However, as everyone has their ups and downs, Tio is not above the rest of us. He does suffer from his own personal problems and when it comes down to the bare essentials he can be serious. He has a hard time with it and doesn't like it, which makes him far less than pleasant when he does get serious but he does get this way every few blue moons. Be it he's pining over the cute filly he never asked to the pond or the passing of autumn to winter, or winter to spring something will trigger an age-old saddness that plagues everyone inside of him. He does not suffer from anything more, mentally, than a bit of mania. This is the source of his 'boundless energy' and on those days where his 'mania' runs out he crashes and crashes hard. These are the days that he's a serious, grumpy, growly, non-bubbly bottle of champagne grouch.
SELF DEFENSE? Altair is not a huge fan of violence, in any way shape or form, but he is not a pacifist either. He recognizes that sometimes violence is very much the most important thing in the world. He'll do his best to avoid partaking in it but he'll step in when he has to. Things that might cause him to become violent? Well being attacked, and even then he's not the one being violent it's the one attacking him. In defense of the helpless, weak or unfortunate, to stand up for what he believes in and to help protect his friends and family. Altair is not afraid to face down his fears, enemies, or anything of the sort. He's reckless and foolish enough to go hunting them down to prove to himself that there's nothing to be afraid of. He won't bend over backwards for anyone, he won't obey an outlandish, or outrageous order and he definitely will not bend his knee to any king who is undeserving of the title. Altair is not afraid to speak to a monarch like they are a commoner - in his mind everyone is equal and he does not approve of being shunned for being 'beneath' anyone. Everyone lives, breathes and dies on this earth.
Altair will never instigate a fight. He will never leap head first into the fray if there is no one he needs to defend but he will not stand idly by while a pair of fools battle with brawn instead of brain. He's a prankster, a trouble maker and likely to get himself exiled from everywhere he might call come one day but he will not let someone drag war down upon the lives of the innocent for a petty little sqwable of personal origin. On the flip side he's not going to let someone slip by with the intentions of spying - be it spying on his colony or on another colony. He doesn't agree with slippery fish and sneaking around and lieing. Tio is a very point-blank, blunt say-it-to-your-face stallion. Even in his joking ways.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Simple as Pie. If you can't respect yourself, Tio isn't going to respect you. He doesn't believe in the gentry styles and fair lady bull. If a mare doesn't respect herself she deservers what she gets - he won't be the one to do anything to her he'll just think it serves her right. The same goes in reverse. You reap what you sow (and he's got a lot of stuff just hanging off the cliff waiting to come collect him). It's almost strange that he has such an ideal considering the trouble he gets into and is destined to face but it's the truth. He has a strong belief that you don't touch those that respect themselves and you don't disrespect those that already disrespect themselves. He'll also likely lecture those he comes across on how better to respect themselves.
HIS HEART ON HIS SLEEVE ever want to look into a mirror and see something staring back at you that wasn't a hollow ghost of a shell? Well look at Altair. He's got his emotions written all over his face. He's never schooled himself in hiding any of his emotions and because of this it will be very easy for those he interracts with the read him (unless he's got a prank up his sleeve in which case you best watch out!) He can keep secrets, just not his emotions hidden. It's a strange and complex matter to him. He doesn't understand the need, popularity or desire of hiding behind layers of confusing, typically bitter masks. As loving and friendly as Altair is he's oblivious to the nature of women and incapable of comprehending when anyone is flirting with/hitting on him. To Altair it's just another interesting conversation.

History| PROLOGUE Altairs parents were a love struck couple. There were no sad, bad, or any sort of disaproving endings waiting in line for the young, first time parents. Everyones families had agreed to the coupling and it even united a herd that had begun to fall apart between two separate families fighting. It wasn't like anyone would know that Lydia's days were numbered more than they thought they were or that Hargul was as unhealthy as he was. His parents were, however, a very beautiful couple. They weren't perfect but they were perfect for each other. So why is this pertinent? Why read on darling <3
ACT ONE SCENE ONE there was no bad weather. There were no wolves or lions or bears - oh my! It was just one of those pleasant spring days where the grasses were a lush, tender green and the birds were singing happily away. It was a a few weeks early, the family observed, but perhaps they were only a bit off themselves. When Lydia parted from the herd to give birth to her one, and only, son no one realized the ominous sensation that hung in the air. Parting with a fond 'i love you' to Hargul. After more than half the day passed everyone grew worried and Hargul's mother and a few mares went in search of Lydia insisting that he stay put and wait.
SCENE TWO by the time the mares reached Lydia it was already too late. the foal was in breach and Lydia was bleeding too much to recover. They did what they had to, gave her a proper burial and lied to Hargul about how things went down. Orphaned, a little small for his age, and terrified of the world Altair started up at his hulking father (because Hargul was large for his breed and even larger in comparison to the colt). After what seemed like ages the grief striken stallion named his son and pulled him to his side to lead him to safety and get him cleaned up.
SCENE THREE While Hargul was incapable of saying 'no' to his son Altair never took true advantage of his fathers good graces. He was a trouble maker, sure, a prankster, no problem, but he respected his father and hated nothing more than to upset Hargul. There was a strange relationship between father and son that only a look was all it took to keep Altair in line and it wasn't a 'i'm going to beat you to the moon and back' look either. Little Altair had a strong understanding of death and life at an early age and the pain that haunted his father. Because he witnessed that pain day in and day out he decided, in his few-month old head - that he would never ever take life for granted.
ACT TWO SCENE ONE Hargul's death was more notable than Lydia's. There was a bad storm that night, the worse the small herd had seen in ages. Winter was viciously approaching a month too early and the wolves were already starved to the bone. Altair was only eight months old when Hargul gave his life in a vicious, bloody battle to save his. The wolves wasted no time on devouring the stallion, even as he was shrieking his last breaths. The horror of the situation as his granddam rushed Altair away from the danger and the carnage had further scarred his young mind until he was unable to accept that everyone was destined to die in pain. For months he mourned over his fathers brutal death, well into the spring he had not recovered from his brooding depression. At long last Altair came to the conclusion that those who stewed in their dark emotions and refused to take life as it came were doomed to a violent death. It was from then on that he swore his already petty-prankster life to nothing but pranks and games.
SCENE TWO At the ripe young age of three Altair found himself falling in love - oh what's this? Could it be? Indeed it was! - he was falling for a mare who was as slippery as he was tricky. The only problem being that she was sinister and her plans with life were highly contradictive to his own plans. But this is jumping ahead of the story. You see it was a bright sunny day with just enough wind and just enough birds and - who am i kidding it was a normal day. He was not grazing peacefully but in the framing forest setting up his latest prank (he planned to somehow climb into one of the massive trees to drop on unsuspecting travelers) when she crept up behind him. Needless to say he did make it up that tree and his heart beat him to it. His heart also beat him back to the ground. Unprepared and frazzled he landed on the largest low hanging branch only to plummet over the other side, landing painfully on his shoulder. He stared at the mare as she blinked her lashes tauntingly at him. It was not love at first sight but she did have the poor fool hooked.
SCENE THREE Trouble was their middle name (each) and wherever they went you knew it was going to happen. the herd grew to hate their company, even Hargul began to ignore his son. Of course blind, ignorant Altair didn't understand and simply lashed out at them all. He let her lead him on a wild goose chase, agreeing to most of her antics 'in good fun' until she decided - one day - to take into her confidence the fact that she wanted to kill his father and have him take over the herd. That was not only the line but the straw. After a year of having her claws sunk deep into his back he snapped out of it and turned his back on her. The damage, unfortunately, was already done and it was too late to return to his home as everyone was fed up with him and refused to believe that he was not the sinister trickster his Magdha had been.
♥ banished from herd ♥ doesn't take life personally ♥ doesn't hate his herd for the banishment ♥ runs into Magdha and lets her die
